SERMON: P is for Prayer
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 6:9-14
RESPONSIVE READING:
Leader: Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice!
Everyone: Let your gentleness be evident to all
Leader: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Everyone: And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
Leader: Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice
Everyone: And the God of peace will be with you.
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH--PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
