SCRIPTURE: Psalm 23
SERMON: A Wonderful Portrayal of a Wonderful God
RESPONSIVE READING--I JOHN 4:17-21
Leader: Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world.
Everyone: There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.
Leader: We love because He first loved us
Everyone: Those who say, “I love God”, and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen.
Leader: The commandment we have from Him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also.
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH—CONFESSION OF 1967
To be reconciled to God is to be sent into the world as God’s reconciling community. We are entrusted with God’s message of healing enmities that separate people from God and from each other. Christ has called us to this mission and given us the gift of the Holy Spirit.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
ANTHEM AND HYMNS
